Planning my Interrail trip through Spain, Portugal and Paris
In just under 2 weeks we go ... Me and my backpack and climb the night train to Barcelona. to travel
The idea with a Eurail ticket haunted Europe has long been around in my head and now I realize at last. At first I thought of a trip only by Portugal. Soon I realized that I underestimated the distance, or overestimated the train. Especially in Spain, it is not always easy to take the train on the road. On certain routes, the trains run only once a day and sometimes you have to take detours pretty idiotic. Very helpful in planning was the Deutsche Bahn website, where you can get nearly all international connections. Quite as favorable as the Inter-Rail ticket at first glance looks like it is not, unfortunately. Once you drive with high speed trains, fall in reservation fees and other surcharges. For me these were between CHF 8 - and CHF 78 - per trip. I will stay
mainly in hostels where there for me as a solo traveler is easiest to get to know new people. Also, I'm planning to stay with locals. The Hospitality Club allows the web to get in touch with people who offer an overnight stay, dinner and city tour.
Ah yes, the most important ... The route looks as follows from: Switzerland - Barcelona - Granada - Sevilla - Faro - Lagos - Lisbon - San Sebastian - Paris - Switzerland.
If anyone has tips to these places or even the end of July to mid-August on the road, just ask us!
